Leading telecom service provider Airtel today announced the launch of its feature-packed voice portal -- Airtel Ungal Choice, for subscribers across Tamil Nadu.

Announcing the launch, Bharti Airtel Ltd Chief Executive Officer, Tamil Nadu, Rajiv Rajagopal said that the service allowed the customers to access and download a number of value added services.

"A variety of services, including songs, clippings of popular Tamil comedians can be downloaded by dialling 52222,"he said, adding the cost would be Re 1 per minute and Rs 15 as monthly rental.



This was the latest offering from Airtel in Tamil, he said.
Responding to a query, Rajagopal said that SMS part of mobile telecom was a "big market" in Tamil Nadu and contributed to 70 per cent of business against the 40 per cent in north India.

Asked about the company's DTH business, Rajagopal said it was doing "good" in the state and added the company plans to expand the business to Puducherry soon.
