Caylee Anthony Update

A meter reader in Orange County, Florida, may have stumbled upon a major break in the Caylee Anthony case this morning.

At 9:30 a.m. local time, while working near the home of Caylee's grandparents (Cindy and , the man picked up a plastic bag near the gas/electric meter only to have a skull tumble out and onto the ground. Authorities were called in and it wasn't long before the whole area was cordoned off as investigators scoured the area around the discovery for more clues.

Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary held a press conference today on the finds. Beary said agents would be working through the weekend if necessary to find whether or not the skull belonged to missing two-year-old Caylee Anthony.

"Bottom line, it's real simple, folks," Beary said. "We've recovered this human skull, it appears to be that of a small child, and now the investigation continues. We've got a lot of lab work to do, a lot of DNA work to do, a lot of crime scene work to do. We could be here all night."

Beary conceded that it's possible the remains belong to another child, but called it an unlikely scenario.

Caylee's mother, Casey Anthony, has not been cooperative in the investigation into Caylee's disappearance, claiming she feared for the girl's safety. Caylee's grandmother, Cindy Anthony, has repeatedly defended her daughter.

Investigators had searched the Anthonys' property before, but CNN reports that the area where the skull was found was previously underwater.
The area where the remains were found had been searched as part of the investigation into Caylee's disappearance, he said. But the precise spot where a county meter reader found them -- "45, 50, 60 feet back" from the street -- was flooded at the time of the search.

No clothes were found with the remains, Beary said.
