Ferguson, 46, wed his longtime girlfriend Megan Wallace Cunningham, an art dealer.
"The wedding took place in Vermont, where they have legalized gay civil unions – and I married a woman," said the astounded Ferguson, who showed off his wedding ring and announced, "It's not just bling."
"But," he joked about the ceremony, "I am European, so I was both the groom and the maid of honor."
Looking for Nickname
On the show, Ferguson showed off a picture of his new wife and himself (wearing a kilt) from the wedding, whose backdrop was layered with snow.He also suggested he and Megan get a trendy nickname, like "Cragan," the way Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are sometimes called "Brangelina."
The Scottish comedian has been married twice previously – briefly in the '80s and also to a gym owner, Sascha, whom he divorced in 2004. The two have a son, Milo, 7.
Now that he's married, Ferguson said during his monologue, he is being informed that he needs to live by a new set of rules. "People are telling me I can't flirt with guests anymore."
Taking issue with the edict, Ferguson said that simply wasn't true. "If we ever get George Clooney on this stage, all bets are off."
