An average hike of 27 per cent in pay scales, allowances and pension and increase in retirement age to sixty are among the recommendations made by the Fifth Punjab Pay Commission in its report submitted to the state government today.

Pay scales, allowances and pensions of Punjab government employees have been revised and the average increase will be around 27 per cent, said the report.

The retirement age for all employees will be 60, it said. The implementation of the revised pay scales will be from January one, 2006.

A person stagnating at the maximum of any pay band for more than one year continuously to be placed in the immediate next higher pay band without any change in the grade pay.
