Markets reacted sharply after Index of Industrial Production for the month of October 2009 was declared, as they
were below market expectations.
India’s industrial output rose 10.3 percent in October from a year earlier, against market expectations of 12 per cent. Manufacturing production grew 11.1 per cent in October from a decline of 0.6 percent a year earlier.
At 12:22 pm, National Stock Exchange’s Nifty was at 5120.05, down 14.60 points or 0.28 per cent. The 50-share index hit a new 52-week high of 5182.55 but failed to hold on to it. It has touched a low of 5102.85.
Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex was at 17159.78, up 29.53 points or 0.17 per cent.
