YPD User Review - Yamla Pagla Deewana

OK, so i finally Watched Yamla Pagla Deewana (YPD) yesterday. As I am punjabi, my expectations were quite high from the 3 Deols. 2nd part of the movie was mad fun, it reminds you of Jab we Met. 1st half was OK OK, maybe the masses might love it as it's based in Banaras. I can see that Deols didn't wan this movie to be a Gross earner in Punjab and Delhi only they wanted to hit UP and Bihar market as well, that's why character of Dharmendra and especially Bobby Deol has shades of Banars in them. the three Deols look great when they are in Sardar avtar, I am not so big of a fan of their Dressings as Banarsis.



The movie is not a senseless drive and it does have a story to it. The story builds slowly in First half and second half keeps you on the edge of your seats. Acting wise Sunny Deol and anupam kher steals the show. Bobby Deol is the main lead but he looks more convincing as a sardar than a barasi guy. Some of the dialogues of Dharmendra are quite funny but i think they should have put some Grey hair on his head.. that would have looked great.

Kulraj Randhawa made a decent debut in mainstream bollywood movie. One thing I liked about the movie was that there were no cheap jkes so you don't have to feel embarrassed if you are going to watch it with your Family or GF.

It's Rupees 150 Well Spent and I would give it 3.5 out of 5 based on it's entertainment Factor.

Given that movie has earned 22.5 Cr from India in it's first weekend.. I think it should make around 70-80 Crore.. which is a good news for Bollywood in year 2011
