Gaddafi Stadium Shoot Out : Sri Lanka Team Players Injured

A shoot out occurred in Lahore close to the Gaddafi Stadium where the second Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is currently underway. The Sri Lankan team was reportedly in the vicinity of Liberty market, where the firing occured, and were on their way to the stadium, but are safe. According to television reports, Sri Lanka's security team was targeted. The third day of the Lahore Test is scheduled to begin at 10.00 am.

Unidentified gunmen have fired on a convoy carrying Pakistani and Sri Lankan cricketers in the Pakistani city of Lahore, police say.

The AFP news agency quoted Sri Lanka's cricket team manager as saying that some of their players had been wounded in the incident.

Unconfirmed reports say some policemen had been killed by the shooting.

The incident happened on the road from the teams' hotel to a stadium, where a Test match is being held.
