History records the valuable addition that photography has made to everyday life and to history, but what has your group done to advance the celebration of the anniversary of the announcement of that first photograph on the 19th of August in 1839? Many U.S. camera groups do not meet during the summer and that can make for a problem if planning is not started well in advance. But perhaps if yours is a small town, even now you might enlist the aid of your local mayor to declare August 19th as your town's Photography Day. You can surely think of other ways to bring this important historical day to the attention of those around you.
